Personality: Thor is above all else a protector. Officially, he is the protector of earth, but very much he is the protector of those who cannot protect themselves. This is what he is at his absolute core and influences all he does. Tied in with this, he possesses an immense capacity for forgiveness and hope. He is also a warrior, which grants him the power to be a forgiving protector. And he takes this power very seriously.
More than once he has willingly put himself in a position to lose his life just to ensure innocent lives will not be post. He faced down a giant fire-blasting beast while he was completely powerless to allow others a chance to escape. And though I am pulling him from slightly before, he was willing to bear a blast from a dying star because a weapon was needed to defeat a nasty villain hellbent on killing half the universe. And he does this without hesitation. It is better he take it than someone else. Even if there's a chance he will not survive.
He has a very strong sense of right and wrong, though he didn't always. Until a few years prior, he was more about fighting and crushing skulls and not really caring about right or wrong. But after some hard learned lessons, that has been properly calibrated. It's practically Lawful. To the point that when his brother decided to go off and murder a bunch of people on earth and open a portal for aliens to attack, Thor put him in chains and took him back home to face judgement.
However, his brother is absolutely one of his weak spots. No matter how many times Loki betrays him, Thor will find forgiveness. Even if that forgiveness comes in the form of accepting that nothing will change. He's at least stopped being gullible to most of Loki's tricks. But that will forever remain a gaping hole in his judgement skills.
The real "fun" starts when he fails to protect someone. Or he loses someone for any reason. Or his brothers tricks gets someone hurt. The guilt starts to set in, then bad things start to happen.
Because Thor has a tendency toward anger. More specifically, rage and fury. If something sets him off, judgement kind of goes out the window. He gets violent, but at least knows well enough to aim it at a justifiable target. Pretty much most of his negative emotions turn inward and come out as anger. Guilt, depression, sadness, frustration, helplessness. It all comes out as anger.
However, thanks to some lessons learned with his temporary exile, he's not quite as eager to jump into a fight. If there's a chance he will attempt to diffuse it. Or at least give the other person a chance to step back. But it's less of a peacemaking tactic and more "Don't make me do this." But if a threat is big enough, or incapable of reasoning, he'll go in full force. He's not one to pull his punches, after all.
By this point, he is haunted by many things. Some heavier than any man should need to carry. Not just the loss of very close friends. But being responsible for the destruction of their home--the entire planet. It was a calculated decision to stop greater harm. But it was still a profound loss.
But more than that, the greatest thing that haunts him is a little gift left to him by his father. The concept of "being worthy" of his power by upholding his duty as guardian and protector. The surest sign that he maintained this worthiness is the ability to lift his magical hammer, a fact that was driven home some time ago when his father took that power away. Now that his hammer has been destroyed, that assurance of being worth is lost to him. He can no longer hold a physical reminder that he is doing the right thing.
Overall, he used to be a raging frat boy prince. He got his act together and was doing alright in the protector gig for a while. But now that's starting to fall apart.
Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping:
Super strength: Due to his Asgardian physiology, Thor is insanely strong. To the point that he can cause some serious damage when he puts his mind to it. As per guidelines this will not be warped. Unless he goes wrecking property.
Invulnerability: For the same reasons above, Thor borders on invincible. He took the full blast from a dying star and survived with only minor burns. While he CAN get injured in canon, this will be dialed down a great deal, especially where monsters are concerned.
Longevity: Asgardians are not immortal, but they do live a VERY long time. Thor is somewhere around 1500 years old. He is still, however, very capable of dying. The only impact it will have in the game is he won't age, really.
Advanced healing: He heals a fair bit faster than a human. However, this is not a power he can summon, and it isn't the instant healing of some supernatural creatures. He just takes like a quarter of the time a human might, and can shrug off minor injuries. This will be mostly left alone, except where game events/monsters are concerned. Those will take twice as long as they normally would for him.
Lighting control: The reason he's called God of Thunder, after all. He can call down massive lighting strikes, channel it through him, and generally do some pretty crazy stuff with electricity. With a side effect of mild weather control (you need storm clouds for lightning after all). He's going to find these powers quite warped. Unreliable most days, and completely incapable of those massive blasts.
Flight: After unlocking his full power, he was capable of flight without aide of his hammer. Or at least levitation/gliding of a sort. With either Mjolnir or Stormbreaker, he could fly great distances and heights. However, he will only be able to achieve any sort of flight with the aid of his weapon, and of course won't be able to get as high as he's accustomed to.
Bifrost Summoning: With Stormbreaker he was granted the power to summon Bifrost to take him anywhere. Basically a form of teleportation (with a bit of travel time between the ends). He will be completely cut off from this ability.
Magical girl transformation: When using his powers, if he is clad in mundane clothes, they will be transformed into his armor of the moment. However, he's not going to choose which armor he gets. Whether his flashy silver sleeves of the first movie, or the battleworn vest of Ragnarok.
Battlemaster: Thor has been fighting (and leading) battles for centuries. He is highly skilled with just about any melee weapon he can get his hands on, especially the heavy hitting kind. He can be tactical when he needs to be, but he's is mostly a brute-force fighter.
He used to have a weakness that if he didn't have Mjolnir, he couldn't channel his power reliably. But he's recently overcome that. His primary weaknesses are of an emotional sort. He does not handle failure very well. He's rather easy to goad into a fight. Talk of his brother or his former girlfriend remain sore spots. And so much grief to play on. He's also prone to wicked bouts of depression if things get bad enough (see what followed his tantrum in the mud puddle in the first movie).
Inventory:
Stormbreaker: A weapon he doesn't know about yet. He receives it to battle Thanos, and to replace Mjolnir. A giant metal axe made out of Uru (marvel space metal) and a handle made out of Groot branches. It lacks the "worthiness" aspect of Mjolnir.
Collapsible Helmet: The suspiciously perfect battle gear from Sakaar.
1 Midgardian outfit: Jeans, teeshirt, red flannel, work boots.
"Team Thor" outfit: weird shirt, swim trunks, weird long vest thing
Asgardian fashion cape
Beard care kit (with oil, wax, etc)
Writing Samples:
TDM shenanigans
Dear Player funtimes (Contains Endgame spoilers galore)
